Tottenham keen to keep Luka Modric

After an outstanding last season with Spurs Luka Modric has been linked with almost every big spender during the transfer window. Earlier last month Tottenham rejected Chelsea's £22m bid for their Croatian play maker, Modric has been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and also Real Madrid but only Chelsea made a bid to secure the services of 25-year old.

Spurs were unable to finish in top four last season and lost Champions league spot. Tottenham has a very big and capable squad and Luka Modric has already shown his desire to join Villas Boas at Stanford bridge. Harry Redknapp slams Chelsea's initial £22m offer tor the creative midfielder and describe it as a "Joke".Now Chelsea has tabbed new £27m bid for Luka Modric but it seems that Spurs have some other plans as Harry Radknapp told Sky Sports News "I still think that £27m is a pretty poor offer in my opinion for a player of that ability".

But if we look at the stats Spurs will have to sell inorder to reduce the wage bill as they have lost the Champions league spot and we have also heard about the reports from Tottenham boss that Nico Kranjcar would stay if Modric leaves. Luka Modric has signed new six year contract with Spurs last year worth £50,000-a-week. But if he will be able to fancies move to Chelsea he can earn as much as £120,000 a week. Having lost Michael Essien for six months due to knee surgery Chelsea are looking to fill the gap, other possible target is Lyon's £9m rated Bosnian, Miralem Pjanic.
